Description

The largest temple in Ayutthaya is located on the site of the former royal palace. Wat Phra Si Sanphet is also known as the king's temple.

Its origins go back to the 15th century. A large gold Buddha statue belonged to the temple until it was destroyed by the Burmese.

A number of chedis and wall remains have been preserved to this day. The three large chedis are the symbol of the city.
